Govt calls on firms to stop pentaerythritol, hexamine sales to EU

MOSCOW, Mar 5 (PRIME) -- The Industry and Trade Ministry has recommended that Russian companies stop exports of pentaerythritol and hexamine to the E.U. as some foreign carriers and the E.U. customs authorities sabotage exports of methanol, the ministry said in a statement on Saturday.

“Some foreign cargo carriers and the E.U. customs authorities are sabotaging exports of Russian methanol cynically. At the same time, no such problems emerge with the supplies of pentaerythritol and hexamine, which are critically important for the E.U. industrial facilities and are produced in the Russian Federation,” the ministry said.

Methanol is a raw material for pentaerythritol and hexamine used in production of many types of goods of many industries. The share of Russian producers on the E.U. market of pentaerythritol to 40% and at the E.U. market of hexamine to 50%. The failure of Russian companies to deliver the goods may cause serious problems for the European industries of construction materials, pharmaceutical products, cosmetics, chemicals, and others.

“Taking into account the current situation with the work of foreign logistics operators and the risks connected to that, the Industry and Trade Ministry recommends that Russian producers suspend delivery of pentaerythritol and hexamine for exports to the E.U. countries,” the ministry said.
